Morristown Drive-In

The Morristown Drive-In opened in 1950 with a parking ramp that held 354 cars. To make it more family friendly, it featured a playground for kids and picnic tables for the entire family. It was owned by Chris Velio, who also owned the Super 40 Drive-In, in Lansing, Ohio. Velio also operated the Capital Theatre in Bellaire, Ohio. In 1956, the drive-in reopened with a new CinemaScope screen. The Morristown Drive-In featured a fireworks display on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. They screened ‘Dust to Dawn’ movies on those same holidays. I believe Manos Amusements operated it later on.

The drive-in closed in 1975 and part of the property was redeveloped into a car dealership. The rest of the property is an empty lot.
