Originally built in the 1970’s just across Herndon Avenue on the eastern end of Orlando’s Fashion Square Mall as a four theater cinema. The Fashion Square 4 opened November 12, 1976. It later became a six and then an eight-theater cinema.
In 1990, the Fashion Square cinema moved across the street to a new six-theater setup, while the old building was demolished for additional mall parking space. It closed on September 24, 2000 when General Cinema filed for bankruptcy.

General Cinema operated the Fashion Square throughout its history. Its actual closing date is September 24, 2000.
