Brady Cinema Theatre

Located in the north of the city centre. The Brady was opened as a cinema on 28th June 1956. It specialized in screening only horror and fantasy films, many being old classic revivals and ‘B’ movies, and became a unique cinema in Paris. This type of programming continued into at least the early-1990’s.

In 1994, it was taken over by French film director, producer & screenwriter Jean-Pierre Mocky, and has added screening independent films as well as cult classics, action and adventure films to its repertoire, and also has some live theatre use. The Brady has been split into two auditoriums, one with 100 seats, the other with 39 seats.

In March 1977 a friend and I visited Paris to attend the 6th International Fantasy Festival at the Grand Rex. As lifelong lovers of horror films we were delighted to discover the horror-themed Le Brady. Although I took a photograph of the cinema we didn’t see any films there. Instead, we saw two double bills at Le Colorado, a similarly horror-themed cinema. (So Le Brady wasn’t quite as unique as indicated above.)
