Located in Brechin, Angus. The King’s Cinema was opened in October 1927. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels. It had a 20 feet wide proscenium, and was equipped with a RCA sound system.
The King’s Cinema was closed in October 1985. It was converted into a nightclub named Arena, and was later Flick’s Nightclub.
In April 2008 plans were proposed to demolish the building (retaining the facade) and build housing on the site, but these came to nothing, and by May 2009, the building was shuttered and unused. In September 2010 it was purchased by the local council.
In October 2012, the building was still unused and was deteriorating, and was placed on the ‘Buildings at Risk’ register.
