This former United Artists theater, the UA Regency Theatre originally opened with one screen and 600 seats on July 23, 1969 with Jack Lemmon in “The April Fools”. On December 18, 1987 it reopened with six more screens
In 2000 the theater became part of Regal Entertainment Group.
With the purchase of the former Hollywood Theater in downtown Merced in April of 2013, Regal now has a lock on all Merced theaters. It was closed on December 19, 2021.

Now called the Regal UA Regency, the theatre closed for the COVID-19 pandemic on March 16, 2020. It reopened in July of 2020 but closed in early October along with virtually the entire Cineworld/Regal circuit’s locations. The Regal UA Regency reopened on May 21, 2021.
This location permanently closed on 12/19/21. It is slated to be replaced with a 14-screen Century theater following the redevelopment of the neighboring shopping center.
