The Point Roberts Theatre was a porno movie theatre in the tiny Washington community of Point Roberts, which has the unique distinction of being accessible by land to the rest of the United States only by going through Canada (as the community is located on the southern tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula, the majority of which is occupied by the Vancouver suburb of Delta).
Due to its location across the American border, the Point Roberts Theatre took advantage by playing porno movies that could not be shown in British Columbia due to that province’s film censor office. This theatre opened on February 4, 1971 with “Vice Squad”, “Hot Lips” & “Muni Love Bus”. It operated until 1981.

I had a telephone agent at the national aircraft pilot’s association tell me a very close version of this story, so apparently, it’s true. The Canadians were so unimpressed with the theatre, they wouldn’t allow film or concessions deliveries to it by truck. The theatre got around this by hiring a young pilot to bring film and supplies in from an airport in the US, thereby circumventing the Canadian authorities.
