The Bay Drive-In opened May 31, 1951 with Susan Hayward in “Tulsa”. It was opened by the Frels Theaters Circuit. It had a parking ramp that could park 326 cars and had 150 bench seats for walk-ins. A CinemaScope screen was installed in October 1955. It was closed by 1965 and it is now a trailer park.

I have some different information on this drive in. It was called the Bay drive in and opened June 1951. I have attached the opening ad from the newspaper. It was Bay City’s first drive in. The theater was located off of Highway 60 and Horn Road. The first movie shown was “Tulsa”. It used Simplex sound and projection equipment. The original screen measured 40 x 50.
According to advertising displayed in the photo section, this was named Bay Dive-In, not Bay City Drive-In.
