Burlington Drive-In

The Burlington Drive-In was opened as a single screen on May 24, 1957 with Victor Mature in “Zarak” & Judy Holliday in “The Solid Gold Cadillac”. The car capacity was listed at 400. In April 1981 it was twinned. The drive-in was closed on September 15, 1985 with “Gremlins” & “Ladyhawk” on screen 1 and “Ghostbusters” & “The Karate Kid” on screen 2. On October 10, 1985 an electrical fire in the concession stand severely damaged the building.

This opened on May 24th, 1957. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this drive in.

April 24th, 1981 grand opening as a twin drive-in also in the photo section.

Opened with “Zarak”, and “The solid gold cadillac”. Opened as a twin with on screen 1 with “Thief” and “The final countdown” and on screen 2 with “Scanners” and “Phantasm”. Site is now The Residence at Shelburne Bay assisted living facility.

It appears that the theater closed on October 10, 1985 after an electrical fire severely damaged the concession stand.

The Burlington Drive-In was actually closed for the season when the electrical fire broke out. The Burlington Drive-In closed on September 15, 1985 with “Gremlins” and “Ladyhawke” in Screen 1 and “Ghostbusters” and “The Karate Kid” in Screen 2. The electrical fire happened the following month on October 10.
