I saw my first movie in this theater, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” in 1978, very fond memores. I grew up in Westfield. I have found some photos of this theater, please let me know where I can send them.
Woodland screened a lot of second-run 70mm. These screenings are included in my historical article 70mm presentations in Indianapolis: A Chronology of Large Format Exhibition, 1956-Present.
The only discount screening of Return of the Jedi in 70/6 started on December 21st, 1983 for 4 weeks. Admission: $1.00
Became The Woodland Twin On July 14, 1972 With “The Cowboys” At Screen #1 And “Play It Again Sam” At Screen #2. It Had A Wobble Mix Of First And Second-Run Films, But When The 1980s Rolled Along, It Primarily Focuses On First-Run.
This Theater Made Statewide Headlines On October 25, 1973 After A Few Youths Were Arrested After Trashing Up The Theater With Cigarettes And Marijuana Inside.
It Was Closed On December 12, 1996 Due To A Lack Of Business.
