Built on the site of the Joy Drive-In which was operated by Joy Theatres Inc. and was closed in 1951 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Rocket Drive-In was open in 1955 with a car capacity listed at 689 cars. It was initially operated by Rowley United Theatres Inc. followed by United Artists in 1966. The drive-In closed in 1980. Today only the concession/projection building stands in an empty field where the drive-in once stood.

415 Renfroe is on the wrong side of the street.
The Florence family bought the Joy Theater and Drive-in in February 1950. The Joy Drive-in was demolished and the Rocket Drive-in was built in its place at the southwest intersection of South Jackson and Renfroe.“ So it would be aka the Joy Drive-In. Maybe it would be considered a separate DI with it’s own page?
