Opening to the public on November 3, 1989 it was known as the Carmike Cinema 7 and it became the second multiplex theatre in the greater Triangle to operated under Carmike Cinemas. At the time of its opening, Carmike had a stronghold on all the moviehouses in the greater Raleigh when it closed the Valley Twin at Crabtree Valley in 1988 with the exception of the Village Twin and the Terrace Twin as first-run moviehouses and leaving the Falls Twin and the South Hills Twin to become discount dollar theatres under Carmike Cinemas. It was the first multiplex theatre to opened in North Raleigh under Carmike.
By February 3, 1998, the Carmike Cinema 7 was closed for extensive remodeling and renovations that would include all stadium seating in all auditoriums with full Dolby Digital Sound and DTS/SDDS systems along with a dual concession stand not to mention adding closed captioned technology in all auditoriums and advanced ticketing with the expansion of the parking facilities and extended lobby entrance. It reopened to great fanfare on December 25, 1998 as the Carmike Cinema 15 when it expanded from seven screens to fifteen. Today, this theatre does excellent business and it is the one of three Carmike theatres in the greater Raleigh area that shows a variety of first-run features and independent movies of interest.
The AMC Raleigh 15 was closed on March 16 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. On June 20, 2020 it was announced the closure would be permanent.

This theater does BIG business and it is one of three Carmike Cinemas in Raleigh besides the Blue Ridge 14 and the Park Place 16 in Morrisville.
The Carmike 15 also has special late shows on Friday and Saturdays.
Now AMC Raleigh 15.
