The Brookneal Theatre was opened around 1940. It was still open in 1950. It later suffered damage from a fire, and after closing went over to being a hardware store and automotive store. By 2026 it was occupied by a boutique.

I found this picture in a scrapbook at a family reunion I attended this past weekend. The movie showing “Desert of Lost Men” was released in November 1951.
This is now a boutique. Very plain brick box, and not very large. Still listed in the 1956 Yearbook. It does not show up until the 1941 Yearbook, when it is listed as the ‘Brockneal’ (surely a typo), with no capacity.
