The Westgate Cinema 8 was opened June 17, 1983 with four screens. It was operated by Gulf International Cinemas Corp. It was located in the Westgate Shopping Center with seating listed at 1,525 seats. On July 1, 1983 it was expanded to eight screens. By 1987 it was operated by United Artists thru 2002. This was followed by Regal Cinemas who closed the cinema in 2005. The building is now occupied by retail.
