The Essex Street Cinemas is located midway along Essex Street, which runs off Fremantle’s famous café strip on South Terrace. It opened 16th September 1987 as a twin screen. Around 1997 it was re-named Luna on SX,and two more screened were added in February 2004. Playing the best in new release and art house foreign language films, operas, National Theatre and special screenings add to the mix of this vibrant and funky 4 screen mini-plex hidden away in the heart of Fremantle.
Wheelchair access to all cinema screens.
All 4 screens were upgraded to NEC 1300 and 2000 digital projectors in August 2012.

The Essex St Cinemas opened on 16/9/1987 with (screen 1) “The witches of Eastwick”,and (screen 2)“Predator”. Name changed to Luna on SX in(1997?). Two new screens opened in february 2004.
