Star Drive-In (#1)

The Star Drive-In was opened on November 22, 1949 with Randolph Scott in “Canadian Pacific”. It could accommodate 300 cars and was operated by Gulf States Theatres. The drive-in closed in the 1960’s. The location is now Cuburns Supply (Plumbing, Heating & Cooling).

It seems to have closed long before the mid-1970s, at least at the 1400 Natchitoches St. location. A 1955 aerial shows a drive-in, but in 1969 I-20 occupies most of the land with no trace of the drive-in remaining.

This should be named “Star Drive-In (I)”, because Gulf States Theatres later opened a second Star Drive-In near 7th Street in West Monroe on July 22, 1965. I’m still looking through more details about it before I officially add it on CT.
