Located to the north of Kokomo on what was then Highway 54. The Drive-In was opened June 11, 1948 with Fred MacMurray in “Pardon My Past”. It was operated by Alliance Theater Corp. They renamed it North Drive-In by 1955. My father managed this site back in 1955 and we lived in a mobile home, next to the screen. The screen was still standing in 2002.

I did display advertising for the North and South Drive -Ins in the late 70’s when they were operated by Sportservice Corp. After the last season for the South we took all the speakers up to the North. The South did better business, but the land it was on was quite valuable so it was sold to a developer. I was managing the Paramount and State Theaters in Anderson, and did the ads for all the Indiana Sportservice Theaters also.
koosmal..have pictures or ads to share?
June 11th, 1948 grand opening ad as simply Drive-In in photo section.
11551 Dixie Highway, Bunker Hill, IN will get you there on Google Maps, can’t get it to work with Historic Aerials though. Screen and the repurposed marquee are still standing as of September 2015 Street View.
Update: A more accurate address for this theater is 11501 Dixie Hwy, Bunker Hill, IN 46914. This points directly to the entrance road. Now Flea Market (yep just flea market).
Please update.
Opened with “Pardon my past”.
