This theatre was built by an independent, then Cineplex Odeon operated it for a while, then Norman Stern operated it for a few years and now another indie has it!!
Per their website, this theatre’s last day in operation was July 15, 2014. They were closed down due to owing back rent.
And it re-opened in October so now it’s the Rainbow Cinemas Cobourg. rainbowcinemas.ca
The Northumberland Mall Theatres most likely opened in the Spring of 1994. It went through a series of chains including Cineplex Odeon, Galaxy Cinemas, and Ontario Theatres. Sometime in 2004, the theater began operating by an independent owner and remained like that until closing on July 15, 2014. Rainbow Cinemas reopened the theater on October 3, 2014.
