Flix Cinema

In South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, The Flix Cinema opened in May 1991. It was privately owned and formed part of the town centre’s Phase Four development - Market Square. There was one auditorium, seating 270; a second, seating 90, was added in 1992. When I called by in December 2002 (see photograph) notices on the front doors announced it was “Closed for refurbishment”. (There was a poster outside advertising “Insomnia” starring Al Pacino, which had been released that September and could have been one of the final films). In March 2003 I was told the cinema had, in the event, closed for good. I understand that the building has since been demolished and replaced by retirement homes.
