Located at 132 Georgia Street, which today the location would be in the middle of the street of Mare Island Way, across from the Vallejo Ferry building. The Farragut Hall was built by Mare Island’s Commandant David G. Farragut in 1869 as a hall, and in 1870 was known as the Farragut Theatre. It had a seating capacity for 800, and a stage. The theatre was mainly used for dramatic arts, meetings and gatherings up until 1896.
The first Animated Projectoscope was used in 1897, and in 1904 the theatre was known as the New Farragut Theatre. By 1906 the Farragut Theatre became a vaudeville house, and in March 1909, Manager W.T. O'Donnell made the theatre a moving picture and vaudeville house.
