HARTFORD Theatre; Hartford, Wisconsin (1937).

The smallish and now-forgotten Hartford Theatre in Hartford, Wisconsin opened in a garage built in 1922 that had been a Gray automobile dealership operated by Ed. T. Rippey and his partner. (The “Rippey’s Garage” namestone is still visible at this writing and must have been hidden by the theatre’s marquee). The Hartford Theatre was operating prior to 1941 and continued until closure on December 18, 1985 when Richard Chamberlain in “King Solomon’s Mines"was the final movie.

A 2013 request to apply stucco over it was rejected by the City’s historic-preservation panel. It has been used for retailing since the theatre closed.

Also to note is that “Minnie The Moocher” is a Betty Boop cartoon as well.
