Owned and operated by independent chain Schubert Theatres which also operates the Schubert’s Luxury 10 Theatre, Beloit.
The Hartford Cinemas 1 & 2 was opened on December 19, 1985 with “Rocky IV” & “Spies Like Us”. It became a quad in 1990 and was renamed Hartford Theatres. Two more screens were added in the early-1990’s and by 2000 it was operating with 8 screens. However, when it was converted to digital projection the decision was made to convert one of the screens into a multipurpose room that is now used for birthday parties and other such events. The other screen is currently being used for storage. However the sign outside by the street has not been changed and still reflects the original 8-screen configuration of the theatre.

The Hartford Cinemas 1 & 2 opened its doors on December 19, 1985 with “Rocky IV” in Screen 1 and “Spies Like Us” in Screen 2. This was a replacement of the downtown Hartford Theatre which had been operating since June 1932 and closed the day before the twin-screener’s opening.
Both auditoriums were divided into a quad in April 1990, and was renamed “Hartford Theatres”. Two more screens were added later on during the early-1990s bringing a total to six. By 2000, it expanded to eight screens.
