Sunset Drive-In

The Sunset Drive-In opened on June 23, 1950 with Susan Haywood in “Tulsa”. The car capacity was 300 and the drive-in was owned by William Schirusky. The screen was destroyed by a storm on June 15, 1956. A new screen was built in July 1956. It was still listed as open in 1979.

The address listed is slightly incorrect.

The address for this Drive-in is 2810 US-2, Havre, MT 59501.

Several ramps are still visible as well.

Please update.

The July 22, 1950 issue of BoxOffice reported, “Grand opening of the Sunset Drive-In was held (in Havre) recently. Owned by Emil Don Tigny and Clarence Golder, the airer is located on Highway 2 and has a capacity of 300 cars. The screen is 50 by 37½ feet and is strong enough to resist winds over 100 miles per hours. Motiograph microphonic sound equipment has been installed at the airer.”
