In May of 1936 the Havre Daily News reported that Joe B. Moore, operator of the Orpheum Theatre and Lyric Theatre, was planning a new theater in Havre. The 400-seat Havre Theatre, designed by Prosper Echelard, the building owner, opened on May 6, 1938.
On January 15, 1942, the interior of the theater was completely destroyed by fire, with just the brick and stucco walls remaining. The Orpheum Theatre and Lyric Theatre were then Havre’s entertainment until 1948 when the new Havre Theatre joined them in March 1948.
The theatre was most likely open until the Cottonwood Cinemas opened in 1995. The Hill County Title Company has most recently occupied the building.
