According to the archives of the Logansport Journal, the Grand Theatre opened on May 13, 1909. It was reported, “The opening of the Grand Theatre will afford the people of this city one of the finest five cent amusement houses in the state of Indiana".
In June of 1913, the Journal daringly published an article, worthy of a 1913 version of the National Enquirer: “A sensation has developed at Kokomo over the filing by Tom B. Jay, proprietor of the Grand Theatre, of a suit asking for a divorce from his wife, Hazel Jay. The latter formerly resided in this city and sang at the Crystal Theatre. The complaint charges that the wife has been receiving many tender love missives from men in several different cities".
On May 25, 1929, it was announced that the Grand Theatre would be closing temporarily but it apparently dropped out of future newspaper listings and never reopened. On January 25, 1930, it was reported that the Grand Billiard Hall would be opening at the location of the former theatre.
Most recently the location has been the parking lot next to the China Lane restaurant.
