The Logansport Pharos Tribune covered the opening of the Logan Theatre on February 23, 1929. It was said that 9,000 people attended the Vitaphone talking picture on Saturday and Sunday. The previous January the Tribune reported that the owners, Fourth Avenue Amusement Co. had purchased the theatre from Hornbeck Amusement Co. Fourth Avenue Amusement also controlled the Grand Theatre and Luna Theatre.
According to the archives of the Logansport Journal, the site was previously home to the turn-of-the-century Iroquois Theatre. In 1913 it opened as the Colonial Theatre in the Barnes Hotel building. In 1957 the Barnes Hotel became the Captain Logan Hotel.
The Logan Theatre dropped out of the newspaper listing in April of 1962 and in October it was reported that the original marquee of the theatre was being removed. Today the old hotel is called the Logan Square Office Building. The Film Daily Year Book of 1945 listed the Logan Theatre with 1,100 seats.
