According to the Beacon News, an old ordinance had to be eliminated for the opening of the Kendall 8. The law said that said movies couldn’t be shown on Sundays but it was quickly changed so the theatre could begin showing movies at the end of January 1998. The Beacon News noted the plans by Goodrich Quality Theatres to build a second 8-screen theatre nearby. Apparently these plans were never realized and instead two screens were added and it became the Kendall 10.
In July of 1999 the Beacon News reported that the Oswego village board was disappointed that the city was not mentioned in the theatre’s advertisements. The theatre was listed as being located in Aurora/Naperville. “We’ve done a lot to bring that theatre to Oswego, and I find it inappropriate”, was the village board’s reaction. After communicating with Goodrich Theatres, Goodrich finally agreed to change the advertisements to Aurora/Naperville/Oswego. In 2016 an 11th screen was added.
From July 10, 2020 it was taken over by the Classic Cinemas chain.

The web site of architects Paradigm Design lists Goodrich’s Kendall 11 GDX as one of the firm’s projects. I don’t know if the firm designed the original 8-screen project built in 1998 or not.
Classic Cinemas announced they are now in control of the Kendall 11 as of July 10th, 2020. They will begin operating the theatre once new movies become available.
This is a 11 screen and now just called “Kendall 11”
