Riverside Drive-In

The Riverside Drive-In was located on the south side of town on US 283 approximately ½ mile north of County Road 392. The drive-in was located on the west side of the highway opposite the fairgrounds.

During its heyday, the drive-in property was framed by a row of hedges and trees. Today, it is private property with most of the bushes and trees gone and no trace of the drive-in left.

This is the correct address but it doesn’t map correctly.

It’s showing that address as Farmer’s Lumber.

For reference, this drive in is located across from the Graham County fairgrounds. The 4h building is next door to the property.

Boxoffice, July 11, 1953: “By the time a golden wedding anniversary rolls around most oldsters are thinking of taking things easy – but not Mr. and Mrs. John Welty. The Weltys celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary eight years ago … they’ve just opened the new Riverside Drive-In at Hill City. Nearly 800 persons attended the opening June 24.”

I’m 90% sure that the concession building was actually retained and is the building on an angle in the center of the property.
