Located in the north Glasgow district of Springburn. The Prince’s Cinema was opened in September 1914 by John Maxwell. It was said to be the first cinema Maxwell owned and operated and from 1917 it became part of his Scottish Cinemas & Variety Theatres chain. He later went on to found the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain.
The Prince’s Cinema presented cine-variety, and in the mid-1920’s fame escapologist Harry Houdini appeared here.
ABC closed the Prince’s Cinema in late-1936 to demolish it and build their much larger Princes Cinema on the site.
