Savoy Theatre, Victoria Park East – Perth, West Australia – OPENING NIGHT Aug 31, 1927 – Sunday Times Newspaper Advert …
VICTORIA PARK’S NEW CINEMA – The interest of Victoria Park picture goers will be centered on the opening of the New Savoy Theatre at Victoria Park East on Wednesday evening next. The Savoy embodies all that is latest in cinema; design, construction, attractive color scheme and novel lighting effects. The seating throughout was manufactured in Victoria Park, and was designed first and last to give the maximum amount of comfort to patrons, the proprietors having been imbued with the idea that “the comfort of the house is in the seat.” The new Savoy, which is a sister theatre to the ever popular Amusu, will be run on the same lines as the Amusu, presenting the very best of the world’s film supplies, with good music, at prices within the reach of everyone. On the opening night a flashlight photograph of the audience will be taken from the stage. This photo will be reproduced in these columns at an early date. Next Wednesday (Aug 31, 1927) The Savoy is proud to offer from Columbia Pictures it’s opening presentation “STOLEN PLEASURES”, starring Helene Chadwick. The Savoy will show regularly three nights weekly. Wednesdays. Friday and Saturday, in addition to holidays and other special nights, and should rapidly become as big an institution in Victoria Park as its elder sister, the Amusu.– Contributed by Greg Lynch –
