Located on Dempster Street near William Street. The Bijou Theatre opened on 5th September 1896. The first films were screened in the 1920’s(?). In 1947 it was purchased by the R.A.O.B. and it continued to be used as a cinema known as the R.A.O.B. Hall. In 1971 they sold it to Esperance Repertory(and renamed Bijou Theate) and built the new grey brick meeting hall behind the Bijou Theatre. Regular film screenings ceased when the(first?) drive-in opened. The Bijou Theatre is still there, but only used for live theatre.
