The Ritz Theatre opened on 23rd April 1938 with Robert Montgomery in “The Man in Possesion”. It was closed in May 1960. The theatre was demolished in the mid-1960’s and a service station built on the site(Ampol or Caltex?). The service station was demolished(1980’s or 1990’s?), and remained empty for many years. The site is now The Bodhi Tree, and Oxford Day Surgery and Dermatology.

There is a photo of the Ritz Theatre in the book Our Town: early photographs from the Town of Vincent local history colection.
The owners of The Ritz Theatre(and Ritz Gardens?) were Parker and During, who also operated the Rosemount Theatre(and Rosemount Gardens?) in North Perth. Wilf Birch was the operator for some years.
I think the photo(in the book, Our Town) is on page 89?
