Grand Theatre

Located adjacent to the Police Station in the small Lancashire town of Padiham, to the west of Burnley, the Grand Theatre opened in 1911. It is not listed in the 1914 Kinematograph Year Book, but the 1931 edition gives Padiham Amusements Ltd. as the owner. There was a café attached.

By the 1940 edition the owner is shown as New Empire (Burnley) Ltd. The stage was 30ft deep and there were two dressing rooms. That ownership continued into 1954, when new management took over.

The Grand Theatre stopped showing films in March 1961 and the building was converted into a bingo hall and then, in 1991, into a nightclub.

But this only lasted two years. The building then stood empty, until it was demolished in early-2003. An application to build flats on the site was approved; Named Lincoln Court, they went on sale in mid-2007.
