In the small Lancashire town of Coppull, midway between Chorley and Wigan, the Electric Palace on the corner of Mill Lane and Regent Street is not listed in the Kinematograph Year Books for 1914, but it is in the 1927 edition. The proscenium was 25ft wide, the stage measured 10ft by 18ft and there were two dressing rooms. It was equipped first with an Electrochord sound system, and later with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. By 1947 it was listed as the Regent Cinema and was operated by M. Stoops, 8 Abercromby Square, Liverpool.
By the 1953 edition the proprietor was E. Silcock and Sons.
Still listed in 1954, the Regent Cinema had closed by 1963. By August 2002, when I visited, Lion Labels & Packaging Ltd. were in occupation. That company continues to date (November 2015).
