Commonwealth Theatres originally opened the 512-seat Park Twin Cinema on July 14, 1978. Designed by Mel Glatz, the cinema was equipped with a platter system. It was noted that the Plains Theater downtown closed the previous Wednesday night.
On October 6, 1978, the Daily Record reported that United Artists Theatres had purchased the theater. In August of 1990 Allen Theatres bought 11 New Mexico locations from United Artists Theatres, including the two in Roswell.
The Park Twin Cinema closed in March of 2006 when Allen Theatres opened the Galaxy 8. The Roswell Daily Record reported on January 3, 2007, that the Roswell Community Little Theatre had purchased the former Park Twin.
