Situated in Wigton, Cumbria, approximately 12 miles to the west of Carlisle, the Palace Electric Theatre was not listed in the 1914 Kinematograph Year Book, but it was in the 1927 edition. By that time, it was owned by Swift and Bell, with the lessee and manager being John E. Connolly.
By the 1934 edition it had been renamed the Palace Cinema and was being leased by J. M. Cusack. That entry listed the proscenium width as 15ft. It was equipped with a Milhay sound system. By the 1953 edition Mr Cusack had become the owner of the cinema, and the proscenium width was then given as 12ft.
The Palace Cinema was still open in 1966, but had closed by 1980. The building moved over to commercial use.
