In Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, the Grand Central Music Hall opened in 1909.
In 1914 it was converted into the Grand Central Cinema. I gather it very quickly became known as a real ‘flea pit’.
If that was the case, it was perhaps rather fortuitous that it was destroyed by fire in 1930.
A new cinema, the Regal Cinema, was built on the site (see separate Cinema Treasures entry).
