Victoria Hall Cinema

Located in Batley, West Yorkshire. The Victoria Hall was a large hall built within the Batley Conservative Club building, which was built in 1891. It was designed in a Classical style by Dewsbury based architect George Fox. Films were screened here in December 1897.

After some alterations in 1913, it became a full time cinema, known as the Victoria Hall Cinema from December 1913. It was equipped with a RCA sound system around 1930.

The Victoria Hall Cinema was closed on 2nd February 1957, the same day as the Plaza Cinema closed. The Batley Conservative Club still use the building today, while the former Victoria Hall Cinema is now the Victoria Function Room.

In the above photo, the blue door on the left was the cinema entrance. The cinema shared the building with the Batley Conservative Club.
