The Sunset Drive-In opened on 28th July 1955. Name changed to Maribyrong Hoyts Drive-In in 1967 when Hoyts took over. The drive-in closed in 1990, a year after the Highpoint Cinema opened across the road. The site was demolished(date unknown?), is now a Homemaker centre.

Orginally part of the independent “Big 6” drive-in chain(the exhibator was Starlight Drive-in Theatres P/L from 1955 until 1967)until taken over by Hoyts in 1967.
