Originally opened October 10, 1990 by George Kerasotes Theatres with 1,700 seats. It was taken over by Carmike Cinemas in 2005 when that purchased GKC Theatres.
After being gutted and completely renovated for 3 months, it reopened June 9, 2016. Although a stadium configuration wasn’t added, automatic recliners reduced the seating capacity down to 620.

From the heatres website: Birchwood Cinemas 10 is a beautifully renovated venue which features luxury, plush electric recliners and coming in the near future, reserved seating. The theatre features an updated, upscale lobby with multiple concession areas featuring self-serve Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers that pour more than 100 customized fountain drink varieties. Hot foods are also available including hot dogs, pretzels, pizza, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, curly fries, White Castle burgers and nachos. In addition, cotton candy and caramel popcorn are available. Cinemagoers will also enjoy one-stop ticketing, an amenity at Carmike locations that allows patrons to escape the elements while facilitating ticket and concessions purchases from the same, fast-moving indoor line.
