Located in Malvern East in the south of Melbourne. The Centenary Hall was screening films by March 1934. It became the Verne Theatre which opened on 4th December 1942. It was operated by Alf & Joss Lawrence. In 1947 it was taken over to be used as a playhouse, but this was a short lived venture.
The building was converted into a knitting factory and a printers. From 1977 to 1982 it was a community centre. By 2003 it was a martial arts school.
