The New Salem (Fayette County) Liberty Theatre launched December 16, 1920 with the film, “Humoresque”. The silent-era theatre had numerous owners and closed in early-1928 before entering the sound era.

Ads in February 1928 list seats and equipment for sale likely spelling the end of the line for the Liberty Theatre which didn’t appear to make the transition to sound.
