The Palace Theatre was renamed Capitol Theatre on 11th March 1931 and had 849 seats. The Capitol Theatre was closed in 1969 screening Fred Astaire in “Finian’s Rainbow” & The Beatles “Yello Submarine”. The 700-seat Gardens closed in 1971.
