The Tropicaire Drive-In opened on 31st March 1956 with John Gregson in “Genevieve”. It was located in the Mount Isa suburb of Soliders Hill, and closed in(1985?). The drive-in was demolished around 1988, and is now a supermarket(First and Last), a sunglasses store(Bright Eyes), some houses, and possibly part of Gallipoli Park and part of Parkham Valley Road, and Moratai Street.

Demolition began in 1988/9
Opened in 1956 or 1957 or 1961 or later? Possibly Birch, Carroll & Coyle’s first drive-in theatre in Queensland. Also 300 seats for(walk-in patrons?).

There is one of the screen footings(in it’s original position) in the grounds of the Abacus Motel.
