The Star Theatre was opened prior to 1924 when it had 590 seats. By 1968 the Star Theatre was listed with 800 seats. It was closed for renovations on September 4, 1982 and reopened as the Cinema Mount Isa on September 24, 1982 with Maxwell Caulfield in “Grease 2”. It later became a 5-screen theatre.
