The $85,000 Pompano Theatre launched in January of 1927. The Mediterranean Revival style house was designed by architect C. Hobart Sherwood. In 1928, its front was obliterated by a storm and the auditorium was damaged. But the theatre rebuilt and was a force until people went outside of old Pompano for movie going including the General Cinema house that opened in 1960. The Pompano Theatre was still open in 1950.
