The first Walpole Hall opened in 1938. Movie screenings started in(1938?) and ceased in(1960’s or 1970’s?). The Shannon River closed in 1971, and in 1978 their hall was transported to Walpole and set up in Pier Street as the town’s main hall. The old hall was then shifted around the corner(to Pier Street?) from its first location to become the Lesser Hall. At this time, the bio box was dismantled, and the new structure had no projection facilities, so no new further films were screened there. The halls are still there.
