Opened in December 1980 at the Hickory Point Mall with six screens. The theater was originally operated by AMC Theatres. In 1991 it became part of the GKC Theatres chain. After Carmike Cinemas acquired GKC in 2005, the theater was operated by Carmike. The theater increased to eight screens in 1988 and in 1994 to 12 screens.
