The Kennebunk Drive-In was opened on July 19, 1950 with Dennis Morgan in “One Sunday Afternoon” & “Victor MacLaughlin in "The Lost Patrol”. It was operated by Mrs. Katherine Avery and Affiliated Theatres Corp. It was closed on September 29, 1980 with Carol Kane in “When a Stranger Calls” & Tony Danza in “The Hollywood Knights”. Now condos across from the motor vehicle department.

The Kennebunk Drive-In began construction on September 13, 1949 after a permit was granted by Katherine Avery, owner of the town’s Anchor Theatre.
The Kennebunk Drive-In opened its gates on July 19, 1950 with Dennis Morgan in “One Sunday Afternoon” and Victor McLaughlin in “Lost Patrol” along with a cartoon and a newsreel.
The theater operated for 30 years and 10 days, closing its gates for the final time on September 29, 1980 with “When A Stranger Calls” and “Hollywood Knights” as its last films. It was demolished a few years later.

Biddeford Journal Tribune, Dec. 21, 2002: (reviewing Will Anderson’s Maine history book “Those Were the Days!”) “Other notable York County drive-ins included in the book are … the Kennebunk Drive-In on Route 1, which operated from 1950 to 1980 and is now the site of an office condominium complex”
