Located in the Parkwood Plaza Shopping Center. The 1,200-seat Cinema opened on July 11, 1961 by General Drive-In Corp. of Boston. The opening movie was Troy Donahue in “Parrish”. Its 62-foot wide screen was the largest in the South per the Sentinel of March 10, 1961. It was the first new cinema to be built in Orlando in 21 years. It was twinned on November 7, 1975. It was closed on February 28, 1991 with Macaulay Culkin in “Home Alone” & John Goodman in “King Ralph”.

General Cinema operated the Parkwood Plaza Cinema I & II for its entire 30-year leasing period closing February 28, 1991 with “Home Alone” and “King Ralph.” It cited lack of business as its reason for non-renewal.
