Located in the coastal town of Napier, in the Hawke’s Bay region of the North Island. The Downtown Movieland was opened by the Movieland Group in December 1995. It was taken over by the Reading Cinemas chain in 2004. With a total seating capacity of 379-seats, they are located in Screen 1: 72-seats, Screen 2: 91-seats, Screen 3: 72-seats and Screen 4: 144-seats.

Correction: Opened December 1995. Replaced the State Twin which continued to operate with an arthouse policy until 1998. Developed by Dick Smith’s Movieland Group from Christchurch and operated in a joint venture with Hawkes Bay Cinemas (owners of Village 4 Hastings which opened August 1994) and whose principal shareholders were: Village/Force, Joe Moodabe & Graeme Edwards-Kroot.
